POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Employee 

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full-time/Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Facilities

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager 

SUMMARY OVERVIEW: The position requires a person that has a good attitude and flexible work schedule to keep St. Francis Xavier Jesuit Catholic School and grounds and facilities clean and operating safely, effectively and efficiently to serve the needs of the school community. 

40+ hours per week to include evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Primary duties and responsibilities include:

 Perform custodial tasks along with other members of the maintenance staff, including:

- bathroom cleaning, restocking supplies; school campus and parking lot trash pickup. Emptying of trash containers.  Sweeping, mopping and cleaning of all floors.

- General cleanup and vacuum of School Office buildings, including the Parish Center, Life House and ISC House, to include buffing, waxing and mopping floors, emptying trash containers, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming carpeted areas, mopping, cleaning and dusting counters, window sills, doors and windows.

- General handyman tasks related to electrical; plumbing a plus. 

- Set up and tear down of rooms for events and meetings.

- Setup/tear down and clean-up of events. 

- Available on radio communication for emergencies that arise, both cleaning and trespassing people who may cause issues. 

 - Perform other work-related tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor. 

- Catholic in good standing.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of procedures, practices, tools and equipment used in janitorial and handyman environment.
• Possess ability to:
• Move, load and unload equipment and supplies weighing 35 pounds and heavier.
• Work independently with little direct supervision.
• Walk around campus; bend, stoop, squat and reach; climb ladders.
• Use judgment related to emergency and safety matters
