I. POSITION TITLE: Information Technology Manager ~ Immediate

Department: Catholic Schools

Supervisor: Ryan Watson


II. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

Under the supervision of the principal, the Information Technology Specialist; supervises the installation, maintenance of computer hardware and software, school wide video and audio equipment; provides leadership, expertise, and advocacy in the use of technology and resources; assists the staff in becoming effective users of technology; manages a program in which staff receives instruction and practice in the use of technology; stays current with technological advancements; continually updates technology hardware; performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal.

 

III.  DUTIES OF THE JOB: 

 

a. Strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education; shows evidence of knowledge of the Catholic philosophy of education; promotes gospel values and Catholic moral teaching; upholds the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church; provides opportunities for the students to be prepared for life in today’s Church and society.

 

b. Assists the faculty in becoming effective information users and helps to structure an environment that allows for access to multiple resources in and out of the classroom; provides leadership and expertise to the classroom teacher to use a variety of resources in their job; install and troubleshoot technology, prepares teachers to use electronic resources for information gathering including, but not limited to, computer databases, educational documentaries and videos, internet resources, and laser videodiscs; periodically consults with department chairpersons to insure the availability of technological resources in each subject area; facilitates activities which offer meaningful practice in using a variety of information resources; manages an ongoing program in which faculty receives instruction and practice in the use of technology.

 

c. Assists in the planning, development, maintenance, and operation software and hardware, troubleshoots, set-up, configure and install new technology (projectors, etc.) Maintains network security to protect against viruses, hackers, and other damages. Maintain local area network (LAN), purchase and acquisition of new technology and equipment while maintaining inventory. Maintain records on the configuration, installation, warranty, licenses, E-rate, and allocation of computer software, hardware, and/or network systems. Comply with applicable Diocesan, state, local and federal laws, rules, and regulations. 

 

d. Works collaboratively with administrators as well as other technology specialists to implement 3, 5, 10-year plan of anticipating technology budget. Provide a reliable environment to staff, students, and families in the appropriate and effective use of computer systems and software. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of electronic records. 

 

e. Stays current with technological advancements; continually updates the information available; oversees and updates the technology, discarding outdated materials and staying current with equipment; keeps abreast of new trends and improvements in technological advancements through research, reading professional journals, and attendance at professional meetings; encourages private, group, or institutional donations of funds and grants in the technological area in a manner to be approved by the administration; works closely with a parent technology committee. Performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal.

 

IV. REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree with continued upper division coursework in media and technological advancement
  2. 3+ years desktop administration experience.
  3. 3+ years helpdesk support, operating systems experience (Windows, Mac, Unix, or Linux)
  4. Strong knowledge of Google Applications and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  5. Must be well rounded in many areas such as AD, DNS, Server and Workstation operating systems, Office suite, Exchange mailboxes, network printing, backup software, wireless, handheld devices, hardware troubleshooting, virus remediation, group policy, Internet connectivity, vSphere client usage, understanding of Terminal/RDS server, and more.
  6. Must meet Ministry Formation Certification as required by Diocesan Policy
  7. Must have: initiative, creativity, and problem solving skills; judgment in handling different personalities and emerging situations; an ability to observe and actively listen in assessing individual student, teacher, and program needs; proficiency in good communication skills with both children and adults; positive attitude in crisis situations; ability to work cooperatively with others as well as ability to delegate
  8. Must have knowledge and understanding of good teaching techniques and child psychology.
