About Us: San Francisco de Asis Catholic School, nestled in the beautiful Ponderosa Pine forest of Flagstaff, Arizona, is the only Catholic school in the greater Flagstaff area. Serving students from Preschool through Grade 8, our school fosters a culture where all can encounter the living Christ through the life and example of Saint Francis. Our students are also deeply immersed in the sacramental life of the Church, attending Mass three times a week and adoration weekly. With new, state-of-the-art facilities, we are committed to developing faithful disciples by following Christ and His Church, acquiring knowledge, inspiring daily conversion, taking responsibility, and helping others.

 

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic, faith-filled and self-sacrificing leader to serve as the Principal of San Francisco de Asis Catholic School starting July 1, 2025. The ideal candidate will be an experienced administrator with a passion for Catholic education, commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth, and possesses the ability to successfully communicate and collaborate with the Pastor, faculty staff, and parents. This role offers the unique opportunity to lead a vibrant school community dedicated to nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit.

 

Flagstaff, Arizona, offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and a welcoming community. Located at an elevation of 7,000 feet, Flagstaff enjoys four distinct seasons, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Surrounded by the world's largest Ponderosa Pine forest, Flagstaff is a paradise for hiking, skiing, and exploring the great outdoors. The nearby Arizona Snowbowl offers excellent skiing and snowboarding opportunities in the winter. Known for its clear night skies, Flagstaff is the first designated International Dark Sky City, with the Lowell Observatory offering incredible stargazing experiences. Additionally, Flagstaff is ideally located near some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the American Southwest, including the Grand Canyon, the stunning red rocks of Sedona, and the Verde Valley wine country. It is also just two hours from the Phoenix metro area, providing easy access to urban amenities while enjoying the tranquility of a mountain town.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership, strategic planning, and day-to-day direction for the school.
  • Foster a strong Catholic identity and ensure the integration of faith into all aspects of school life.
  • Oversee the implementation of the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools.
  • Collaborate with the pastor, faculty, and staff to create a supportive and effective learning environment.
  • Lead and support the development and implementation of high-quality instructional practices to enhance student learning and achievement.
  • Oversee curriculum development and ensure alignment with educational standards and the school's Catholic mission.
  • Provide guidance and professional development opportunities for teachers to ensure effective teaching strategies and continuous improvement.
  • Implement and uphold standards of behavior that reflect the school's values and ensure a safe, respectful, and faith-filled school environment.
  • Engage with parents, students, and the wider community to promote the school's mission and values.
  • Manage school finances, including budgeting, fundraising, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement marketing and recruitment strategies to maintain and increase student enrollment.
  • Ensure compliance with the school's Handbook, diocesan policies and state regulations.
  • Serve as the school's primary communicator regarding policies, procedures, practices, and major discipline issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • Active, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Master’s degree in education, administration, leadership, or a related field.
  • Principal certification from the state of Arizona or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Proven track record of effective instructional leadership and school administration.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
  • Knowledge of current educational technology and teaching methodologies.
  • Understanding of school finance and marketing strategies.
