POSITION TITLE: Assistant Athletic Director
SUPERVISOR: Principal, Athletic Director
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Athletic Director, under the supervision of the Principal and Athletic Director, is responsible for aiding in the day-to-day operations of the Athletics department, including the management of all sports teams and student academic eligibility. The Assistant AD will foster the mission and vision of the school, working to utilize Athletics as a key element to educate and develop the students of Seton Catholic Prep. The Assistant AD will participate in efforts to promote the school and its athletics teams in the general community. The Assistant AD will also perform other job-related duties as assigned, and will abide by all standard policies of the Diocese of Phoenix.
Duties of the Job
- Assist the Athletic Director in the year-round operations of the Athletics Department. This includes, but is not limited to the organization and administrative management of on-campus athletic events as well as logistical tasks for off-campus events.
- Manage game day operations for all sports. Demonstrate expertise in running all aspects of game operations; including scoreboard operation, maintaining scorebooks, facility set-up, tear down, game introductions, music, national anthem, and facility closure.
- Work with teams to secure game day volunteers for all on campus athletic events. Establish working relationships w/ other staff members to encourage involvement and support of athletics, e.g., supervise red zone, attendance at games, etc.
- Support and enforce locker room safety procedures.
- Responsible for keeping facilities clean / operational / and prepared for practices and game settings.
- Manage the athletic department equipment rooms. This includes yearly inventory of all athletic uniforms and equipment, communicating with the athletic director on needed replacements and repairs, maintaining a database of uniform rotation for all sports teams, soliciting purchasing needs from coaches to identify future needs, and maintaining clean and safe environments in equipment rooms and mobile storage units.
- Review and be knowledgeable of all aspects of AIA Policies to ensure compliance of the requirements. Address and discuss new policies as set forth by the AIA with the AD.
- Work with the Athletic Director in building a rapport & relationship with the Booster Club and attend monthly meetings.
- Assist with team registrations to validate all required paperwork is complete.
- Perform any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Principal and/or the Athletic Director.
Required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform essential job functions
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of coaching experience
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends when needed
- Strong computer literacy skills
- Supports philosophy, mission & policies/procedures of the school
- Supports and encourages multi-sport athletic participation
- Must have knowledge of bylaws and policies/procedures set by the Arizona Interscholastic Association and follow all regulations set therein
- Must be able to complete moderately difficult physical tasks
- Demonstrates problem solving skills; use good judgment in handling different personalities and emerging situations
- Must have ability to observe and actively listen in assessing individual student and program needs
- Must have proficiency in good communication skills with both students and adults
- Must have ability to work cooperatively with others as well as ability to delegate
- Must have knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and psychology
