Security Guard

I. POSITION TITLE: Security
School: Bourgade Catholic High School
Department: Student Services
Grade: 8, Exempt
Supervisor: Dean of Students
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Security Guard is responsible for securing the school campus and personnel by patrolling the property and monitoring the CCTV.
- Duties of the job: Those tasks preceded by an asterisk (*) are essential functions of the job
- Observe and monitor people’s behavior and recall details accurately.
- Ensure all doors and gates are secured
- Monitor assigned areas on campus including the student parking lot, high congregation areas, athletic facilities during events, student restroom areas, etc.
- Monitor and respond to student behavior in accordance with school’s policies.
- Guard against unauthorized persons or materials from entering campus
- Respond to emergency incidents and security requests in alignment with the school’s Emergency Operations Plan and school policies.
- Contact appropriate internal and external parties in the event of an emergency
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; reporting trespassers
- Complete logs and reports of emergencies, student behavior, etc.
- Maintain relationship with local law enforcement
- Member of the EOP team
- Performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal.
- Work flexible hours including evening and some weekends.
3. Required education and certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be 25 years of age
- Must be CPR and AED certified
- Current DPS License
- Successfully pass a drug test
- Provide IVP fingerprint card
- Continued training on Emergency Management
- Minimum one year experience as a Security Guard, Police Officer, Military Police Officer or a related experience.
- Completed Safe Environment Training and signed the Code of Conduct
- Has a basic understanding of Roman Catholic teaching

- Must be in good physical condition
- Must have initiative and problem solving skills; use good judgment in handling different personalities and emerging situations
- Must have ability to observe and actively listen in assessing situations
- Must have proficiency in good communication skills with both children and adults
- Must have a positive attitude in crisis situations
- Exercise judgment and make decisions as to appropriate action under pressure in accordance with school policies.
- Use and properly care of emergency equipment
- Demonstrates personal self-discipline, is adaptable and flexible in routine and unexpected situations
- Has skills in communication, initiative, creativity and problem solving
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of child psychology
- Ability to work in a team setting
