I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies. This is a new position at JPII. Emphasis will be given to communications (internal and external) and marketing planning.
- Status: Grade 5 , Exempt, 12 months, 12B
- Full time, with work on some weekends and/or evenings
- Benefits per Diocese of Phoenix Benefit Guidelines
- Reports to the Director of Advancement
II. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Understand and promote school’s mission
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to speak and write in a positive, consistent, and attractive way
- Serve as a witness to the school’s mission
- Communications
- High level of organizational and interpersonal skills
- Interest in the mission, academics, sports and activities at JPII
- Ability to manage priorities
- Able to communicate in both English & Spanish is a plus
- Maintain strategy and content calendars; develop story coverage plans (including supporting visuals, interviews, and story angles)
- Marketing
- Coordinate media efforts to document school sponsored events and activities
- Manage school website and social media channels
- Create promotions for school-sponsored events and activities in coordination with project leaders
- Support Director of Advancement and Director of Admissions in design of print materials
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to create project timelines and meet deadlines
- Uphold branding consistency
- Creates and provides video content for media sites
- Maintains and manages Digital Content Library
III. REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Communications; Marketing or Business with equivalent work experience
- Strong proficiency in photo and video
- Creative and/or innovative
- Represents the school in a positive way on and off of the school campus
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong technology skills with the ability to learn
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to stand at events for extended periods of time
- Ability to sit at events for extended periods of time
